Using Recruiting Agencies & Career Centers Successfully

After reading the title you may be thinking to yourself, how can one unsuccessfully use a recruiting agency and career center? There’s always something you can learn from both. Although true, here’s how: not all recruiting agencies recruit for all positions and not all career centers provide the resources and help you might need. So if you’re looking for a job as an Executive Assistant, it may not be helpful to visit a recruiting agency that primarily focuses on finance positions. Conduct a quick Google search on recruiting agencies in your area that focus on recruiting for the type of job you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for a position in finance, search for “finance recruiters or finance employment agencies.” If you need help with your resume or if you’re looking for some interview coaching, search for career centers that offer those services. A question that we frequently get asked here at Ruby Peak is if we offer interview coaching, although we would love to we just don’t have the time. So avoid wasting your time by conducting a quick Google search before heading out to just any recruiting agency and career center.
